Santiago de Compostela is a nice place to visit but way more crowded than I anticipated. Suggest pre booking tickets to things you want to see. The cathedral and museum was wonderful. Also, suggest reviewing restaurant options and make reservations early for popular places. And pre-arrange a taxi two days prior to airport departure. We enjoyed visiting the cathedral and the surrounding old town. Also seeing the steady stream of pilgrims arriving elated at the main square in front of the cathedral. We had hoped to see the priests swinging the censor during mass, but this apparently only happens on certain days of the year. That makes parking very easy and the rooms with uneven numbers have a lovely country and pool view. A bus to the old town for €1 passes by the hotel. If you arrive on a sunday you MUST give them your arrival time so they can receive you, because then they are closed but will be there to meet you. Maybe that's only out of season, I was there in november, but that I don't know. Everybody working there is very friendly and helpfull.
